Throughout the year, we’ve shared insights into the experiences of the thousands of caregivers who apply through Hellohire. We’ve broken down the changes in critical KPIs like interview no-shows, application rates, and time to hire so that you can benchmark your own hiring process, finding areas where you excel or have room for improvement.
Now that we have data for all of 2025 at our fingertips, what have we learned? And how can it prepare you for 2026?
Here’s what we’re seeing.
Home Care Hiring Trends in 2025
While data can fluctuate from month to month, we saw some definite trends emerge over the course of the year. Here’s what happened:
No-Show and Cancellation Rates Dropped
The Trend: Interview no-shows are one of the biggest frustrations for most recruiters we speak with; it’s why we created intelligent interview scheduling that minimizes no-shows and schedule gaps.
There’s more good news there: the interview no-show rate has been dropping since Q4 of last year. It decreased 17.5% in the last year, down to 42% from a high of 51% at the end of 2024. When we look at monthly data rather than quarterly, there was a slight uptick in both August and December, both months where candidates are likely to be travelling.
Interview cancellation rates have dropped as well, down 28.7% in the last year.
The Takeaway: This increased interview show rate is likely due to reduced hiring we’ve seen across most other industries this year. While hospitality and retail cut jobs, healthcare and personal care kept hiring, attracting new candidates who were more engaged in their job search.
However, with 42% of scheduled interviews resulting in no-shows and 11.2% cancellations, that still means just over half of scheduled interviews aren’t happening. If your recruiting team isn’t scheduling multiple interviews at a time, they’re likely dealing with schedule gaps that are killing productivity.
Application to Interview Rate Climbed
The Trend: We define an applicant as someone who meets the job requirements and is interested in the role. The Application to Interview Rate has been improving for a year and a half now, increasing over 24% since Q3 of 2024.
The Interview Success Rate, defined as the number of candidates a recruiter marks as a “Yes” or “Maybe” after an initial interview, has dropped slightly since last year but remained relatively steady over the course of 2025. Just under 60% of applicants moved forward from first round interviews this year.
The Takeaway: A higher application to interview rate combined with a steady success rate means more caregivers are being hired now than in 2024.
In addition to that meaning agencies are growing, it’s also another data point that shows that candidates are more engaged in their job search than they have been in the past few years.
Candidates are Scheduling Interviews Fast
The Trend: In 2025, we started tracking how long it took applicants to schedule their interview—and they moved quickly. Candidates took, on average, just .71 days (slightly under 17 hours) to schedule an interview in 2025. Since potential caregivers self-schedule interviews with Hellohire, this is likely the time frame your applicants would prefer.
In addition, the average time between application and interview was just under 2.7 days. This is good news; you have access to dedicated candidates who want to move quickly through the hiring process.
The Takeaway: We’ve heard it before: Caregivers are frequently living paycheck to paycheck, and they’ll prioritize the agency that can get them working quickly.
When caregivers have the tools to set the pace of their own job search, they move fast. By allowing them to answer screening questions up-front and schedule an interview without playing phone tag, agencies using advanced home care hiring tools are able to hire the best caregivers and get them into the field faster.
Hiring Faster than Humanly Possible
While this year has finally brought some long-awaited changes for the home care hiring market, more than half of hiring experts said recruiting is more difficult now.
A lot of this comes down to tools; as we’ve seen, candidates want to move forward with the hiring process quickly. And when the tedious manual processes of hiring are automated, they can.
Agencies who automate the back-and forth of screening calls and interview scheduling are already reaping the rewards. For example, Hellohire customers engaged 357,790 candidates in 2025. 157,902 of those applicants were filtered out early with Hellohire.
If each of those applicants had taken just a 5 minute phone call to screen instead, that means recruiters saved over 13,000 hours with Hellohire in 2025—over a year and a half of time that otherwise would’ve been spent on manual follow-ups.
