Hellohire September 2026 home care hiring benchmarks: 0.86 days to scheduled interview, 3.04 days to completed interview, 8.8 minute interviews, 49% application to interview, 59% interview success, 41% no-show, 16% cancellation

Home care agencies across North America are navigating a rapidly changing recruiting environment, and the latest home care hiring trends show just how challenging it has become to find and hire qualified caregivers fast enough to keep up with demand. Speed, responsiveness, and candidate engagement now play a bigger role in hiring success than ever before.

At Hellohire, we have a unique view into these trends. Every month, we analyze anonymized data from thousands of caregiver applicants moving through the Hellohire platform to understand:

  • How fast candidates are being scheduled
  • How quickly interviews happen
  • How many applicants turn into interviews
  • How many interviews are successful
  • And how often candidates simply don’t show up

This report shares real home care hiring benchmarks agencies can use to compare their own recruiting performance and understand what’s happening in the industry right now.

Here’s what September 2026 looked like.

What These Numbers Mean for Agencies

1. Interview quality reached a four-month high

59.5% of interviews moved a candidate forward, the highest rate since May. When screening happens before the interview, recruiters spend their time on caregivers who are actually a fit.

2. Interviews took longer to happen

Time from application to interview rose to 3.04 days, up from 2.95 in August. That matters. Our Interview Speed Curve shows show rates fall from 59% for same-day interviews to 51% the next day, and to 30% after a week.

3. Cancellations climbed

The cancellation rate rose to 16.3%, its highest level in more than a year. Candidates who cancel are often still interested but have a scheduling conflict. Easy, self-serve rescheduling keeps them in your pipeline instead of losing them.

4. No-shows remain a major challenge

With a no-show rate of 41.4%, about 4 in 10 scheduled interviews never happen. Automated reminders and faster interviews remain the two biggest levers.

How Your Agency Compares

If your agency is experiencing:

  • Long delays scheduling interviews
  • High no-show rates
  • Low interview conversion
  • Recruiters overwhelmed reviewing resumes

You are not alone, but you are likely operating below current industry benchmarks.

These numbers represent what agencies using automated, AI-assisted recruiting workflows are achieving today.

The Bigger Trend in Home Care Hiring

Month after month, we’re seeing the same pattern:

Agencies that respond to applicants in hours, not days, consistently win the best caregivers.

The home care hiring market has shifted. Caregivers often apply to 10–20 agencies at once. The agency that schedules first almost always interviews first, and hires first.
